I had the same problem ,and that problem is when the telescoping boby is full of oil you can not compress it into the main lifter body enough to make the snap ring ceet and this will keep the valves from closing . i turned the cams a few times and let my heads sit overnight , some of them bleed out enough to ceet but not all of them . I took the lifter back out took them back apart to let some of the oil out of the telescoping part . this made them alittle spongy ( air will compress )and allowed the snap ring to ceet past the main body lip . i pu them back together and then submerged them all in oil .
Once that snap ring is ceeted you will not have to worry about them over pumping . they will be loud on initial start up for approx 60 seconds , as they are when they are new . hope that helps.
